ARTICLE 13 - SAILOR, PILOT, OFFICER AND REBEL
Summary of ARTICLE 13- MARINE, PILOT, OFFICER AND REBEL
Sailor, pilot, officer and rebel
This book traces the itinerary of a naval officer confronted with the arbitrariness of a general during operations in the Sahel. Isolated from his home army, the man chooses to rebel rather than submit. He will make use of Article 13, a right of recourse under the General Rules of Discipline. For three years, this officer will see his ideal restored in
cause. The fight will have heavy consequences on his career but the man will remain faithful to the motto: do not suffer.
The character, shaped by the oceans and the sky where he experienced the life of an aircraft carrier pilot, introduces us to the Florentine atmosphere of the staffs. It is an opportunity to understand the differences in culture between the three armies and the need to know them to avoid falling into sterile wars of buttons.
As the pages go by, the reader is drawn into the Sahel at war. He will be surprised by the unexpected outcome of this authentic tale.
These events took place at the end of the 1970s, but they could be contemporary, as it is true that people, institutions and current events have not really changed in forty years.
