THE HELICOPTER : NAVIGATION

€16,67

Why does the helicopter fly?
How does it fly?
Under what regulatory conditions is it suitable for flight?
Three questions for a story by episode.
A story all in drawings.
A story all in colour.
An invitation for the student pilot, pilot or student in aeronautics to discover the main theoretical, practical or regulatory questions asked throughout the life of the helicopter, from its design to its operation, from its manufacture to its maintenance.
The programme of this seventh book is navigation applied to the helicopter.

Navigation is the art of finding one's bearings on the surface of the Earth.
This very ancient science has undergone and will continue to undergo major changes as ever more precise instruments are discovered.
But the foundations of navigation will always be as necessary for a good understanding and good practice, even in an environment full of state-of-the-art technology.
Because good navigation means combining a good use of tools and means with common sense.
The aim of this book is to present navigation in its historical context, to evoke the classical methods of positioning and tracking, and to describe the more modern means of radionavigation and satellite navigation.
It is with this project to make you discover, we dare to say love, the navigation that we wrote this book.
We hope that the approach, style and presentation chosen will encourage you to follow us!

Régis Le Maitre is an Engineer at the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile.
Philippe Capiaumont is a Helicopter Instructor.
