COMMANDOS SAS - WHO DARES WINS - 1942-1945
On 5 June 1944, under the orders of Commander Bourgoin, parachutists from the "Special Air Service" commandos were dropped in occupied Brittany. Their mission was to carry out sabotage actions in order to delay the progression of German reinforcements towards Normandy. They allied themselves with the local Resistance, and the village of Saint-Marcel in Morbihan was the scene of heavy fighting.
