Private Pilot English Manual - Conduct of Flight - 2nd Edition

The dual objective of this first volume of the Private Pilot's English Manual is to enable you to acquire a solid command of radio communications and a satisfactory level of understanding of weather information, particularly when it is broadcast orally.
It is completed by a second volume whose aim is to give you the ability to fully exploit the aeronautical information necessary for the preparation and conduct of the flight (field sheets, NOTAMS).

This volume is divided into two parts:

The first, devoted to radio communications, consists of six units; four of them are based on the exploitation of authentic radiotelephony recordings, two of which were collected in Great Britain and the other two in the United States.
For the British component, you are offered successively samples of communications recorded in the tower at Wycombe airfield (near London) and a complete flight from this airfield in southern England.
Similarly, for the American component, you will take turns using sequences collected in the tower of the Vero Beach aerodrome (Florida) and the recording of a complete flight on the Vero Beach-Orlando round trip.
Each of the four sequences is accompanied by exercises that will allow you to assimilate the vocabulary used in real-life situations, practice reading back control instructions and manage radio communications throughout a flight.
Units 5 and 6 are devoted respectively to non-routine situations, malfunctions and emergencies, so that you will be able to react appropriately to instructions or information involving the use of extended vocabulary and to report to control on possible problems.
