MARTIN MILAN has chosen a job that would allow him to stay as free as the air and to change scenery as he likes: taxi plane pilot. His dearest wish? To lead a quiet, uneventful existence, in short: to "let go of his elbows"! He has fixed up an out-of-age plane, an old cuckoo clock that miraculously persists in flying, the Old Pelican.
Everything would be better if Martin didn't have the gift to find himself embroiled, in spite of himself, in all sorts of adventures where his sense of justice and loyalty in friendship pushes him to take sides. But he always instinctively chooses the side of the oppressed against the side of the tyrants, the side of the prey rather than the side of the hunters...
He is supported in this path by an unlikely chance and a stray dog who has chosen to stay at his side - a dog unlike any other, since he hides a mysterious little luminous sphere in one of his ears .
